Between The Lines DiscussionFeaturing Prexy Nesbitt Chicago native Prexy Nesbitt is an activist and educator, working for human rights and freedom. Over the past 4 decades, Nesbitt has worked on social and political movements in Africa, Europe and North America. As an undergraduate student at Antioch College, Nesbitt founded the Antioch Committee for a Free South Africa. In 1970, Nesbitt became the first field staff for the American Committee on Africa (ACOA), where he worked to establish anti-apartheid organizations in the Midwest. From 1986-87, Nesbitt worked as a special aide to Harold Washington, Chicago’s first African American mayor. As an educator, Nesbitt has worked at high school and college level, as well as school administration, and currently teaches African History at Columbia College Chicago. While most of his work is based in Chicago, Nesbitt’s passion and life’s work have always been with Africa.Recorded Saturday, February 6, 2010 at The Greenhouse Theater.
