Remy Bumppo’s tagline, “think theatre,” speaks to the company’s belief that theatre should inspire people to think about and discuss what they have just collectively experienced. The company hosts events throughout the season designed to foster conversation between audiences and artists. These events, many of them offered free to the public, would not be possible without your support.

Make a direct impact on our artistic and community engagement programs by sponsoring the Translations and Adaptations Reading Series, Between the Lines literary lectures, First Rehearsal Receptions or Opening Night Receptions. There are different levels of sponsorship available, each providing you with unique recognition and benefits.

Translations and Adaptations Play Reading Series

Remy Bumppo stages public readings of four scripts that are recent adaptations or translations of pre-existing source material. The series engages audiences by calling for immediate reaction to new works and/or feedback on possible plays to perform as a mainstage production. Sponsorship of a play reading includes cost of scripts, plus the stipend paid to the director and actors who participate in the reading. Sponsors receive a cast-signed copy of script and recognition in the program plus Round Table benefits associated with your sponsorship level. Readings take place at The Greenhouse Theatre at 6:30pm.

Between the Lines

Between the Lines is Remy Bumppo’s literary lecture series. Guest speakers, often Chicago’s community leaders, discuss their work in relation to the themes of each play with attendees in a pre-show discussion, then re-join the audience after the play for a post-show question and answer session. Sponsorship of Between the Lines includes recognition in the Playbill, in the production-specific Field Guide, two tickets to the lecture and performance sponsored, plus Round Table benefits associated with your sponsorship level.

Dates for the 2011/2012 season lectures are as follows:
Mourning Becomes Electra: Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 1:30pm
Changes of Heart: Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 1:30pm
Chesapeake: Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 1:30pm

First Rehearsal Receptions

The First Rehearsal Reception enhances the Remy Bumppo subscribers’ and donors’ experience through one-on-one interaction with the artists. Sponsorships cover the costs of food and drink for the reception portion of the event. The evening includes an example of a working rehearsal. The sponsor is invited to bring four friends to the event, and will receive a cast-signed copy of the play’s script, sponsorship recognition in the production’s Playbill plus Round Table benefits associated with your sponsorship level.

The First Rehearsal Reception takes place at Remy Bumppo’s rehearsal studio at 3717 N. Ravenswood, Suite 245. Dates for the 2011/2012 season are as follows:
Changes of Heart: Thursday, November 3, 2011
Chesapeake: Wednesday, March 7, 2012

Opening Night Receptions

Approximately 200 Remy Bumppo friends and supporters enjoy a celebratory reception with the director, designers, cast and crew immediately following each Opening Night performance. Sponsorships cover the cost of food and drink for the event. The sponsor will receive four tickets to the opening performance, a photo with cast, sponsorship recognition in the production’s Playbill, plus Round Table benefits associated with your sponsorship level.

Opening Night Receptions takes place at The Greenhouse Theatre. The dates of the 2011/2012 season Opening Nights are as follows:

Changes of Heart: Monday, November 28, 2011 at 7:00 pm
