Directing: The Rehearsal Process
For new directors and experienced directors alike, Directing: The Rehearsal Process will explore the fundamentals of directing with a focus on the rehearsal process. Over the course of the class, students will study multiple approaches to directing, including rigorous text analysis as well as physical theatre and devising methods. This class will provide tools for collaborating with performers, stage managers, choreographers/designers, and producers throughout a rehearsal process. In this class, students will be asked to rehearse as directors and as actors in scene/monologue studies with each other, which may involve meeting for rehearsal outside of class.
Directing: The Rehearsal Process is one of 3 directing courses offered by Remy Bumppo, but the classes do not need to be taken sequentially and may be taken more than once. This class is an opportunity to develop or brush up on skills under the guidance of Artistic Director Marti Lyons.
