Benefit Assistant/Intern

Benefit Assistant/Intern – now accepting applications!

  • Entry Level, Part-time, hourly from February 2024 through May 2024 (subject to availability)
  • Expected 8 hours per week
  • Flexible scheduling but a consistent schedule is preferred. Work days generally are M-F 9a-5p
  • Start Date: February 26, 2024
  • Event date (required); Sunday, May 5, 2024 from 8a-5p

Remy Bumppo Theatre Company seeks a motivated collaborator to join our development team to help with our largest fundraising event of the year – the Annual Benefit. 

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Development Manager, the Benefit Intern will learn and aid in the planning and execution of all aspects of the Annual Benefit, including: 

  • Assist with coordination of the silent auction: 
    • outreach to local businesses for auction donations, 
    • track the receipt and acknowledgment of donated items, 
    • creating the online Silent Auction catalog (writing descriptions, take or source photos, etc.),
  • Provide excellent customer service to event donors and attendees
  • Process contributions and acknowledgments to donors.
  • Assist with other event-related tasks such as décor, volunteer coordination, and other logistics.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Time Commitment

The position will be active for 12 weeks from February 2024 – May 2024 for approximately 8 hours per week. This position is in-person, with COVID-19 precautions in place, such as required vaccinations, masking and social distancing.
Scheduling is flexible, though most work should take place on weekdays during normal office hours (Monday-Friday between 9a-5p). 

Candidates must be available for the day of the event, Sunday, May 5 from 8:00am-5:00pm.

Compensation:
Interns have the choice of class credit or stipend

Marketing / Graphic Design Internship

The Marketing/Graphic Design Intern position is an excellent hands-on experience for a professional seeking to build and enhance marketing, advertising, and design skills while acquiring a deeper knowledge of branding and marketing within the non-profit theatre world.

Time Commitment

We are looking for an individual for 15-20 hours/ week. Scheduling is flexible, though most work should take place on weekdays during normal office hours (Monday-Friday between 9a-5p). Exceptions can be made for other commitments. Some evenings and weekends may be required.

Casting Internship

Remy Bumppo Theatre Company seeks an organized and driven individual to aid in casting for a mid-sized, Equity theatre company. We are especially looking for an intern with an interest in learning more about casting a show and all of the steps involved in finding the right person for the role.This position will work closely with our Casting Director, Linda Gillum, and Artistic Assistant, Ian Frank. While the majority of your time will be spent working on casting related activities, we invite interns to experience other aspects of running a non-profit arts organization.

Time Commitment

There are four internship seasons for casting. We ask that you circle each season you are interested in on your application. Start and completion times are semi-negotiable during the interview process. Hours vary based on the season and time of year, but no more than 20 hrs/week.

Summer: June 1 – August 31, Deadline to apply April 1.

The summer casting internship will primarily focus on scheduling our Non-Equity General Auditions and running casting sessions to find understudies for our  mainstage season. You will have the opportunity to be in the room to watch a general audition and develop a greater understanding of what happens in the casting world from there. Other duties might include final casting for our season, processing of submissions, attending showcases, and carrying out other administrative duties.

Fall: September 1 – November 30, Deadline to apply July 15.

The fall casting internship will primarily focus on administrative tasks associated with casting as we begin our season. You will have the opportunity to really dig into headshots, resumes, and cover letters to better understand what makes a submission package stand out. Other duties might include assisting with small casting sessions and attending showcases.

Winter: December 1 – February 28, Deadline to apply October 31st.

The winter casting internship will primarily focus on Equity general auditions and season casting. You will have the opportunity to observe Equity auditions and learn the first steps Remy Bumppo takes in casting our upcoming season. Other duties might include processing submissions, attending showcases, and carrying out other administrative duties.

Spring: March 1 – May 31, Deadline to apply January 15.

The spring casting internship will involve coordinating auditions for casting our upcoming season and attending showcases. This is one of the busiest seasons in casting, and will therefore likely require more hours. You will have the opportunity to organize show-specific casting sessions, observe auditions, and be in the room for the conversations that follow. Other duties might include processing submissions, attending showcases, and carrying out other administrative duties.

Scheduling will vary based on the workload and scheduled events. You will never be asked to work more than 20 hours/week. Evenings and weekends may be required.

Artistic Internship

Remy Bumppo Theatre Company seeks an organized and driven individual to assist with our artistic programming. We are especially looking for an intern with an interest in theatre management, dramaturgy, and/or directing.This position will work closely with Producing Artistic Director Nick Sandys and Artistic Assistant Ian Frank. While the majority of your time will be spent working on artistic programming related activities, we invite interns to experience other aspects of running a non-profit arts organization.

Time Commitment 

Artistic interns are brought on as needed and internships range in length and time commitment. Therefore, we accept applications on a rolling basis and ask that you specify the general range of months for which you are interested. Details will be discussed during the interview process. Artistic interns are expected to work 15-20 hours/ week.

Scheduling is flexible, though most work should take place on weekdays between 10a-6p. Exceptions can be made for other commitments. Some evenings and weekends may be required

Arts Administration Internship

Remy Bumppo Theatre Company seeks a motivated individual to join our administrative team. We are especially looking for an intern with an interest in a well-rounded arts administrative internship which will include aspects of fundraising, patron relations, communications, and data management. This position will work closely with the Patron & Donor Services Manager and the Operations Director to learn more about how a non-profit, mid-sized Equity theatre company functions.

Time Commitment

We are looking for an individual for 8-10 hours per week. Scheduling is flexible, though most work should take place on weekdays during normal office hours (Monday-Friday between 9a-5p). Exceptions can be made for other commitments. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.

Requirements

Interns must be at least 18 years of age and have some experience in the area of specialty and some computer literacy. While a theatre degree is not necessary, Remy Bumppo interns are usually people who plan to pursue a career in the arts. The minimum time commitment varies between internships and can sometimes be a combination of day & evening work.

Compensation

Remy Bumppo offers its interns either a limited stipend or academic credit. Stipends are determined by time commitment and type of internship. Remy Bumppo will assist in tailoring internships to meet the credit requirements of individual schools. However, interns must make all credit arrangements.

While international applicants are encouraged to apply, Remy Bumppo cannot sponsor foreign applicants or assist with visa arrangements. All housing arrangements are the responsibility of the intern.
